Do you want to learn how to get motivated when all you want to do is lay down and look at the ceiling? Look no further.
Having a lack of motivation happens to all of your more often than not. We can fight it all we want but there are times where we just need to accept that we won’t do the things we set ourselves to do that day.
And that’s totally okay. As long as it doesn’t happen every single day, of course.
Continue reading to find out how you can get motivated and crush your goals!
HOW TO GET MOTIVATED
Productive Procrastination
One of the main things that drown your motivation is the fact that you planned to do things you don’t want to do that day.
Instead, do things that you weren’t planning to do but that are going to move you forward. That means, no just sitting down and watching Netflix for 6 hours straight. Unless you’re a Netflix show critic – then do your thing!
Let’s say you planned to do a HIIT workout today but you’re just not feeling it. Go for an easier workout like Yoga. You’re still doing something that will move you forward in your goals (I’m imagining your goal is to get healthier btw), it’s just not what you planned.
This can be applied to everything in your life so keep this in mind when your motivation is at below zero.
Use your actions to create motivation
We are used to thinking that we need to get motivated to take action when in fact that’s not how it works. It’s a lot easier for humans to do something and get motivated by that action.
Think about it.
How many times have you not wanted to do something, but had to do it? You do it thinking you’ll give up after 10 minutes but those 10 minutes pass and you think “now that I’m here might as well finish it”. See?
Break actions down
Most of the time we don’t want to do something because the task seems too big and we have no idea where to start.
Been there, done that.
But you know what helped? I broke the task down into smaller, more manageable steps.
For example, I had no motivation to write this blog post. So I broke it down into smaller tasks
I wrote a rough outline last night
I wrote the whole blog post this morning
I created the graphics, added them to the post and scheduled it this afternoon.
Doing things like this might take a while longer but I can assure you your motivation will be high and you won’t get burned out and give up.
Reward yourself
Having something to look forward to at the end of something is always motivating. Give yourself a little reward when you end your task. It can be something like a pastry, a 1-hour break sitting on the couch, it’s your call.
If you’re working on a big project, rewards are also very useful to keep you motivated. Create checkpoints where you’ll reward yourself when you reach them.
So these are my tips on how to get motivated. Do you have any tips of your own?
Do you want to become a productivity machine? Follow these work from home tips and you’ll be one in no time
Working from home was once viewed as a privilege. Now, it’s viewed as an obligation.
I don’t think I need to explain why that is right? I mean we all know why, don’t we miss Rona?
Even after almost a whole year working from home, a lot of people still have difficulties setting boundaries, defining priorities and overall being productive.
In today’s post, I’ve compiled my top 7 work from home tips for you to be your most productive self. Follow all these tips and you will be a productivity machine in no time.
7 WORK FORM HOME TIPS
Have a specific place to work from
Having certain elements that help your brain understand that there is the space where you focus on your work. It doesn’t have to be a whole room – just a table with a chair on your bedroom, living room or even kitchen.
Have a space that your brain will easily associate with work – this will help it understand when it’s time to focus.
Have fixed schedules
Just like when you’re working at an office, you should have a schedule, and follow it. It’s easy to carry on working until late at night or even star super late, so that’s why having a schedule is important. It sets boundaries for you and people who live with you.
Get Dressed
Don’t loose comfort but don’t stay in your pajamas. The clothes we wear can and will influence your productivity and even your mood so choose something that makes you feel productive but don’t squeeze you to death.

My go-to outfit is a pair of leggings, a cute sweater and comfy shoes. Most of the time I’m actually in just my socks but when I feel fancy I’ll put on some sneakers.
Don’t waste time on creating super elaborate systems and using a bunch of tools at the same time. Be as simple as possible so you can keep your consistency.
There’s no use in having a bunch of apps you use at the same time
Keep your phone away
If you actually need it for your work, disable any notifications from social media apps like Instagram and twitter. If you don’t need it, chuck in in a drawer or better yet put it on a different room.
It takes about 23 minutes for our brains to switch from one thing to another so if you break your concentration by using your phone you’re wasting precious time.
Don’t multitask
Don’t try to do a million things at the same time. Focus your time and energy in one task at a time. Wanting to do it all at the same time means you won’t get anything done, so keep that in mind.
Write it down
Jot everything down from tasks, to ideas, goals, deadline and organize that information in one place.
I personally use Notion to do this but you can use any app you want or if you’re a paper person just do it in a notebook.
The goal here is for you to just have everything out of your mind. There’s not need to occupy brain real-estate with random things that have nothing to do with what you’re working on at that moment.
It’s time to hit the restart button with these amazing reset day ideas!
A Reset day. Sound fancy, right? Well, what if I told you it’s much simpler than it seems?
A reset day is nothing more than a day where you get to tie up all loose ends around your life. It’s a day to do those little things that have been running through your mind for days, or even weeks but that you never had the time (or patience) to do it.
Reset days end up being self-care days as well because you’re allowing to do things that you usually don’t spend time on.
I think we all should have a reset day at least twice a month, which, if you think about it, is not that much. I mean, a month has 30/31 days so taking 1 or 2 of those days to do things that will clear your mind, make you feel good, and overall improve your life (even if slightly) doesn’t seem to be that much of a burden.
If you want to have one of those days soon, but don’t know what to do, here are a few ideas I’ve compiled.
I think all of us have felt like everything is out of control at some point in our lives. Not being on top of your sh*t feels terrible, not gonna lie. But you know what? Not everyone has their sh*t together all the time, and as silly as it sounds, that’s kinda comforting.
There are gonna be times where you will be able to get everything you want done with time to spae and there are going to be times where the complete opposite is going to happen. Again, completely normal.
For those times though, it’s good to have some sort of system in place so that you know that if things start to get out of hand, you can have the comfort of knowing what to do. Here are 3 simple things you can do to get your sh*t together:

BRAINDUMP
The first thing you should do when you’re feeling too overwhelmed with life is to braindump. Get yourself a piece of paper, open a word document of the notes on your phone, whatever you prefer, and just start writing down every single thing that comes to your mind.
I know for a fact that having a bunch of things in my head keeps you from being productive and get sh*t done. For example, I’ll start writing a blogpost and then I remember that my literature professor sent me a bunch of documents to print for the next class, and I abandon the blog writing because I’m afraid I’ll forget the documents if I don’t print them now.
Having everything written down means you won’t have to worry about forgetting anything and will be able to tackle one task at a time. Don’t forget to revisit that list regularly and jot things down as soon as they pop into your head.
HAVE A SET TIME FOR THINGS
Have a set time for them so that when you skip them you know you’ll get back to it next time. It doesn’t matter if you weren’t able to finish that task because you know that there will be a time set for you to complete those tasks the next day or week.
Deadlines are a great way to keep you accountable for things but you shouldn’t have a deadline for every single task on your list. This should be reserved for those really important tasks, like for example a school essay. Going to the mall to buy a skirt does not need to have a deadline. That will only stress you out a lot more. Those kinds of things should be done when you can, not on a certain day and time.
What do you usually do to stay on top of your sh*t?
What to do when you’re not feeling motivated? What to do?
Motivation is a tricky thing. Sometimes, you get it randomly and want to do anything and everything on your to-do list. Other times, however, no matter what you do, the motivation just isn’t there. It’s only natural for these kinds of things to happen so don’t stress yourself out too much when you just can’t seem to do anything.
There are a few things you can do, however, in order to regain a little bit of that motivation back. Let me break them down for you.
What To Do When You’re Not Feeling Motivated
DO THINGS YOU HAVE NOT PLANNED BUT THAT WILL MOVE YOU FORWARD
Let’s say you’ve planned to write a blog post today but you just can’t find the motivation and willingness to do it. The best solution is not to just give up and sit on the couch binge-watching a show on Netflix.
What you should be doing instead of writing that post is, for example, schedule in tweets, editing photos for your Instagram and other things that are blog-related but that are not writing the blog post.
TRY DOING THINGS FOR A SMALL AMOUNT OF TIME
When you really need to do something but you really don’t feel like it, try setting a timer for 10 or 2 minutes and do as much as you can on that set amount of time. After the timer ends, you might be so into the task that you will want to continue or you might want to stop. Both are completely acceptable so don’t feel bad about it.
HAVE A LITTLE SELF-CARE SESSION
Sometimes you’re not motivated because you’re not feeling your best, so have a bit of a pamper day or just a few hours even.
REWARD YOURSELF
Having something to look forward is motivation in it of itself. For example, if you say ”Okay, if I finish writing this post in the next hour, I’m going to treat myself to a nice bowl of ice cream.” you are much more likely to complete that task.
