How To Stay Motivated When Working From Home

Working from home is both a blessing and a curse: it’s a blessing because you don’t have to leave the comfort of your home to go to work and a curse because, since you’re in the comfort of your home, you tend to slack off.  As I mainly do my work from home I’ve gathered a few tips that have helped me be more productive and motivated and I’m today to share them with you.

Dress up

This step might sound a bit superfluous but I’m telling you, it will increase your productivity by a lot. When working from home, we all have the urge to just stay in our pajamas or just throw on some jogger pants and an old t-shirt but what happens when we do that is that we make excuses: ” Oh I should do a video for my Instagram stories to promote my new blogpost but I’m wearing ugly clothes so I’ll just do it tomorrow.”, then tomorrow becomes the next day and next thing you know a week has passed and no sign of that video.

Dressing up and doing your makeup and hair will end your excuses. therefore it’ll make you more productive. With that being said, I’m not saying you should wear a dress and high heels when you’re at home, that’s just unrealistic in my opinion but you should have a few pieces that are comfortable and stylish at the same time.

My go-to working from home outfit (and the one I’m wearing as I write this) is a cozy sweater or tee and some black leggins.

Have a schedule

I have mentioned this before on one of my posts before but I’ll say it again because I can’t stress this enough: having a set schedule is the most important thing when it comes to staying motivated and productive.

Having a schedule allows you to visualize how your day looks like and having that will automatically make you more productive: you know you should be doing a certain task at a certain hour so you’ll feel pressured to do it.  Setting deadlines is the way to go.

Designate work hours

When working from home we tend to do work whenever we feel like it but the truth is we end up doing nothing. Working from home is just like working for a company: there should be designated hours for your work.

I’m not saying you have to work from 9 to 5 but you should choose a schedule that won’t mess up with your other things and that you know you’ll be able to stick with.
