How to Look Your Very Best on Your Wedding Day

Physique

First things first, chances are you’ll want to work on your physique in some way before your wedding- regardless of your starting point. It doesnt mean you need to (or should) try and lose lots of weight, but eating well and exercising in the run up to the big day will definitely help with your confidence. When you reduce puffiness by cutting out processed foods and tone up with exercise, when you go dress shopping you’ll just find that everything fits you that bit better. You’ll also have more energy and probably feel happier too which is never a bad thing! If you do plan on losing larger amounts of weight then you’ll of course need to start as early as possible so you can do this in a healthy way. Try downloading an app like MyFitnessPal to track your macros, make you feel more accountable and allow you to reduce your weight gradually without feeling too restricted. Exercise again doesnt have to be drastic, if you give yourself time you can make a difference without it feeling too difficult. Walking, swimming and biking are all accessible for most people at all fitness levels and will make a fantastic difference to your shape if you stay consistent. If you want to go all in, consider joining the gym and committing a certain number of days a week to it. Doing weight training exercises alongside cardio is your best bet, you wont bulk up but instead you’ll tighten your muscles, improve your shape and burn more calories at rest due to the lean muscle increase.

Hair

Our hair makes such a difference to our appearance, and this is one thing you’ll of course want to be right on your wedding day. Starting off by getting your hair into the best condition possible makes sense, you might need a good trim to get started and some treatments recommended by your hairdresser. If you want to change the colour of your hair, do this well in advance. That way you have time to get used to it, have tweaks done to it and make any changes if you decide you don’t actually like it. The last thing you want to do is make a huge change right before your wedding then end up regretting it. Your hair color should suit your complexion and also be something that feels right for you, definitely speak to your hairdresser and do your own research as well. Look at celebrities with similar colors and features to you, and read articles like ‘What Color Should I Dye My Hair? 7 Key Things To Consider’. Often, making gradual changes such as adding highlights over the course of months will keep your hair in the best condition and give you time to get used to it. When it comes to wedding day hairstyling, think about whether you’ll need to have some extensions fitted to give you the length or volume that you need, and then you can incorporate the cost into your budget.

If you're getting married soon and want to look amazing and radiant on your special day, here's how to look your very best on your wedding day.

Skincare

Achieving glowing skin begins long before the big day arrives. Consistent skincare routines tailored to your skin type and concerns can make a world of difference. Start by identifying your skin’s needs (whether it’s hydration, acne control, or anti-aging_ and choose products formulated to address those issues. Cleansing, toning, moisturising and using sunscreen daily form the foundation of healthy skin. Regular exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells, revealing a fresh complexion underneath. Consider incorporating serums containing potent ingredients like vitamin C or hyaluronic acid to target specific concerns such as brightening or plumping. It’s also worth booking a series of facials leading up to your wedding if you have the budget for it, as these can help clarify and rejuvenate your skin for that bridal glow. You can hydrate from the inside out  tooby drinking plenty of water and eating a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and omega-3 fatty acids which all support skin health.

Makeup

On your wedding day, your makeup is the finishing touch to boost  your natural beauty and ensure you look flawless in person and in photos. Whether you opt for a professional makeup artist or decide to do it yourself, a trial run is essential to perfect your bridal look. Focus on creating a makeup style that reflects your personality and complements your wedding theme and dress. For a timeless and elegant appearance, neutral tones and soft, romantic hues often work best. Waterproof and long wearing formulas are crucial to withstand tears, hugs, and hours of celebration. Don’t forget to pay attention to detail, including defining your brows, choosing a flattering lip colour, and adding subtle highlights to accentuate your features. Lastly, consider enlisting the help of a trusted friend or bridesmaid to carry a touch up kit with essentials like lipstick, blotting papers, and setting spray to ensure your makeup stays picture perfect throughout the day.

Nails

Your nails can play a really important role in completing your bridal look so dont forget about them. Whether you prefer a classic French manicure, a chic nude shade or something more vibrant and eye catching, well groomed nails add a polished finishing touch to your overall look. Schedule a professional manicure and pedicure a day or two before your wedding to ensure your nails are perfectly shaped, polished, and free of any chips or imperfections. Consider factors such as your dress style and wedding theme when selecting your nail colour and design. If you’re opting for a bold or intricate nail art, ensure it complements rather than competes with your engagement ring and other accessories. Gel or shellac manicures are popular choices for brides due to their long-lasting finish, but traditional polish works just as well if maintained properly. Remember to pamper your hands and feet with moisturising treatments to keep your skin soft and supple, adding to the overall elegance of your bridal appearance.

Dress

Finally, the dress which is hugely important! It doesn’t matter what shape or size you are, there will be a dress out there that’s perfect for you. Spend time getting this right, don’t rush or be pressured to buy something you’re not sure about and do plenty of research. Work out what body shape you have, and then it will be easier to workout the type of shape/ silhouette that will best suit you. Think about if you want sleeves or not, what kind of length or neckline and more as this will help you to narrow down options. Visiting bridal boutiques to try things on is a smart move, but if this doesn’t appeal to you or you’re plus size and there aren’t many bridal boutiques that accommodate to you it’s definitely worth looking online. While many can see this as a risk, actually as long as you use a good website with plenty of reviews and make your choice carefully it can be an excellent way to go. Lots of these sites have review sections where real brides can share photos of their dress, so you can make sure it looks the way you think that it does, and find brides with similar body types to you to see how they fit. Some of these online dress sites even allow you to customize your dress, or add custom measurements so you can save on extensive alterations as well. In the right dress you’ll feel a million dollars and have the confidence to really enjoy your wedding day, as well as be happy with your photos.
