Okay, I’m not the most amazing student out there but in my 14 years of being inside tiny classrooms filled with people and a teacher trying to pass on some knowledge, I’ve retained a few things. I decided to share with you guys my best tips to kiss ass in school/uni. I hope they are useful for you!
P.S.: I’ve created a Pinterest group board for bloggers! If you’re interested, click here and follow the instructions on the board description!
STAY ORGANISED AND ON TOP OF YOUR WORK
Organisation is key in pretty much every aspect in life. Uni wise, being organised will help lower your stress levels. Use a planner or your phone calendar to jot down all your tests/ exams and essay due dates, so you know when you have to get things done.
DON’T WAIT UNTIL LAST MINUTE TO GET THINGS DONE
Please never do this! It’s horrible. You will just be stressed and won’t do a great of a job. I’m not saying to write that essay the second the class ends, but don’t wait until the night before the due date to do it. Give your self a margin of time to research, write and re-write if necessary.
I can’t stress this enough. A good night of sleep can do wonders for you! When you are sleep deprived your mind won’t be able to concentrate as much as it would if you’ve slept 8 hours. just on Monday, I spent my American Literature lecture yawning and didn’t write the stuff I was supposed to because I was feeling as lazy as a sloth. So yeah, sleep!
BLOCK ANY DISTRACTIONS
When studying, try to have as little noise as possible. If you like to listen to music when studying, go right ahead but it is better if the song doesn’t have any lyrics. Turn off your TV and your computer. If you need to use your computer, block websites like Twitter, Facebook and Youtube (you can use FocusMe to do so)
HAVE A TIDY STUDY SPACE
A messy desk equals a messy mind. Your desk need to be as organised and clutter free as possible.
If you have doubts ask your teachers about it. If you’re not comfortable doing it while the class is still in session (like me), ask them once the class ends or send them an email. Your friends/colleagues can help you too.
