A Look Inside My Bullet Journal

I've always been an organized person. I've had planners for as long as I can remember: I think it's reassuring to have a physical place where you write all the things you have to do and the appointments/ events you have to attend. Last year, I came to a point in my life, however, where I was not satisfied with a planner. I felt like I didn't have enough freedom to do whatever I wanted. That's where bullet journaling came in.

I've been following bullet journaling youtube channels and Instagram accounts for a few years now but I always thought I could never have one because I wasn't good a drawing and my calligraphy wasn't pretty. Then I read ''The Bullet Journal Method'' and I realized that the whole point of bullet journaling is not to make your bujo all pretty, but to make it functional. That was kinda life-changing for me, not gonna lie.

In September of last year, I bought a cheap grid notebook to try out bullet journaling and see if it was for me or not. Safe to say I fell in love. I loved the flexibility of the whole system and how I could skip days, weeks and not feel guilty about wasting paper. I could also gather all my never-ending lists in one place so I could easily access it. But what really sold me was the fact that I could change whatever I pleased whenever I pleased. If I want to be creative I can, if I just want to write down things with just a black pen, I can. I really like that.

Since I loved bullet journaling so much, my sister gifted me a Leuchtturm 1917 notebook that I now use as my bullet journal.  As I'm not the most creative person in the world, I've kept my set up pretty simple so far. I've added some washi tapes and stickers to some spreads to make it a bit more interesting but I honestly don't think I'll continue to do it because I feel like it's a bit distracting.

Something I love to do in my bujo is trackers. I feel like they keep me accountable and remind me to do things more. The sleep tracker has helped me to realize how the amount of sleep I get affects my mood.

As I said above, I use my bujo to create what, in the bullet journal world is called 'collections'. Collections are basically spreads where you combine similar things together in one place. As you can see, I have a 'books to read' and 'shows to watch' collection. I write down what I want to watch and what I want to read and when I want to find something to do, I look at these collections and choose a show or a book. Easy.

2020 is my first full year using a bullet journal and I've been loving it! Here's a little look inside my 2020 bullet journal

There are a ton of different ways you can do your weekly spreads. This spread what the first one I tried back in September. I kept using it until January and then decided to change it. That's the beauty of bullet journaling: if something isn't working for you, just change it.

If you want more journal inspo I have a whole Pinterest board dedicated to journaling.
